Referendum - 4 July 2019

We are nearly there! After almost 3 years of consulting, discussing, writing and editing, our Plan is ready for the final vote.

There will be a referendum on our Neighbourhood Plan on 4 July. This will be organised by the District Council and all Uffington and Baulking parishioners on the Electoral Role will be able to vote on whether they approve the Plan or not. The Referendum will be organised like any other election, with options to vote in person at the Uffington polling station, by post or by proxy.

A copy of the flyer to be distributed to all households in Uffington and Baulking parishes is downloadable from the link below.

Examination - March -April 2019

The Examiner. Mr Andrew Ashcroft, examined the Plan during March and April and made recommendations required to make the Plan meet fully the basic conditions and improve the clarity in some areas. His final report is on the VWHDC website here under 'What's Happening Now?'.

Following the Examination period, the process is then as follows:

  • The Examiner's recommendations will be considered by VWWHDC and incorporated as necessary.
  • The Referendum will be organised by the VWHDC and run in the same manner as local or national elections.
  • Subject to a successful outcome of the Referendum (which requires a simple majority vote for it to be carried), the Plan will then become 'made' (adopted). The Refeendum will probably be held in or around July 2019.
  • The made Plan will then form, along with the Local Plan Parts 1 and 2*, part of the 'Development Plan' for the District and which will be used to help determine future Planning Applications.

* Recommendations from the Examiner are currently under consideration by VWHDC so the Plan is not yet adopted.

VWHDC Community Award - 24 November 2018

Whilst the Award was made to the Steering Group, with particular reference to the consultation process, it therefore also reflects the considerable input from villagers in both parishes to the written questionaires and at the consultation and other events - thank you.

The Examiner. Mr Andrew Ashcroft, examined the Plan during March and April and made recommendations required to make the Plan meet fully the basic conditions and improve the clarity in some areas. His final report is on the VWHDC website here under 'What's Happening Now?'.

The Plan will be updated with the Examiners recommendations pending agreement from the VWHDC.

Future Events

The final community event will be the Referendum which will probably take place in July. The final version of the Plan will be available for scrutiny, in both paper and electronic formats, for 4 weeks prior to the Referendum.

VOWH Local Plan

Part 1. The Vale Local Plan Part 1 was made on 14 December 2016.  In parallel with the finalisation of Part 1, the Vale has been working on Part 2 which will be launched for public consultation on 6 March 2017. In line with the Vale's our Statement of Community
Involvement we are keen to ensure that members of the public have a range of opportunities to become aware of the Local Plan and that they understand the
importance of giving us their feedback on the plan.

Part 2. A series of public events was organised to enable members of the public to meet with Planning Officers to discuss the Local Plan and to share their views on the options. The Council received over 3,000 comments from over 500 individual consultees and/or organisations to the Local Plan 2031 Part 2 Preferred Options Consultation. The Vale and then the external examiner are/will be reviewing the report and any last minute consultation responses to inform the final update to the Part 2 Plan.

The latest update bulletin from VWHDC is here. Fuller details on the Inspector's recommended amendments are here.
