The second UBW Neighbourhood Plan community consultation event for residents of the three parishes was held on Thursday 14th July in the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall. Over 40 residents and owners of land within the NP area of Uffington, Baulking and Woolstone attended along with 2 planning representatives from the Vale. The focus of this event was to present the Steering Group's (SG) proposals for the detailed selection criteria for proposed development sites and to seek endorsement of these criteria.
Clare Roberts, neighbourhood planning officer from the Vale, gave an introductory overview of progress on the Vale's Local Plan and how it related to the UBW NP. She stated that the Vale needed to find 1000 sites for Part 2 of their Plan and intended to work with parishes developing NPs in order to harmonise the number of sites required from each area without having to impose 'quotas'.
Rob Hart, the SG chairman, then explained the work carried out by the SG to identify the site selection criteria and that the Group now needed to gather residents' views on, and endorsement of, the proposed criteria. Many attendees completed the comment/suggestion form at the event to contribute to this work whilst others took the forms away to consider further.
The meeting ended with a chance for attendees to discuss the criteria with members of the SG and to study the maps showing the areas under consideration.
